THE BIGGER PICTURE Conflict is an ever present part of your life in an important group level process in the OB framework. To help you better understand and manage conflict, we explore several common causes of conflict at school and work. Then you'll learn about what it means to have little, too much, and just enough conflict (the conflict continuum). Explain why not all conflict is bad or dysfunctional. Some forms are functional or desirable. A MODERN VIEW OF CONFLICT Conflict occurs when one party perceives that its interest or being opposed or negatively affected by another party. The word reminds us that sources of conflict and issues can be real or imagined, just like perceptions for fairness.
