Suppose you have two solvents to choose from for a recrystallization, both of which result in crystals during a solvent test: Solvent A gives crystals immediately upon cooling, forming a slush within minutes. Those crystals, being tiny, get stuck in the filter paper, so it takes awhile to collect and dry them. The final yield is a little bit higher (less than 10%) than for solvent B. Solvent B takes a longer for crystals to form, but results in large, needle-like crystals, floating freely in clear solvent. Collecting the crystals is trivial there are no issues with the filter paper getting clogged up. Which solvent do you choose, and why?
