Susan Douglas owned a 1 carat ring that was quite valuable and had a special memory as it was given to her by her grandmother. This family heirloom had been in the family for generations and she wore it only on special occasions. Two of the six prongs had broken on the ring so Susan took it to Romani Jewelers to be fixed. Romani Jewelers was owned by Anthony Romani and Susan has been going to him for repairs and purchases for quite some time. Anthony also has his son, John, working with him in this family business that sells new and used jewelry as well as doing repairs on them.
John Romani mistakenly sold to Vincent Price the 1 carat ring that was owned by Susan. Vincent purchased the ring in good faith for his wife for her 60th birthday because he was attracted to the old stylish setting. Romani Jewelers discovered the mistake a week after the sale when Susan came to pick up her ring. They contacted Mr. Price to void the sale and he refused. Mrs. Douglas had her lawyer threatened to sue all parties if the ring was not returned to her. The Prices did not waiver so Susan Douglas sued the Prices to repossess her ring.
