Table of Contents > Module #1 Assignment 1 Description and Instructions Description and Instructions 41)) Introduction Predictive maintenance (PdM) software takes preventative maintenance one-step further by using sensor data (or IoT devices in general) to recognize hazardous trends and alert the appropriate maintenance personnel before the issue escalates. For example, a room air conditioning system isn't working correctly. A PdM system will send an alert to hotel staff so it can be fixed while the guest is away from the room, before the problem is even recognized. These predictive maintenance systems can even help a maintenance team work more efficiently by creating maintenance schedules based on actual usage and not estimated schedules, for example battery and air filter replacements etc. What to do? In this assignment, you will need to pick a case study of your own choosing for development of a new PdM software for a client. For instance, it could be a PdM software for KSU Marietta campus maintenance. Deliverable A written Feasibility Study/Project Plan The exact form of the feasibility study is up to you. The length of the report is likely to be between four and ten pages. It should include the following: The (imaginary) client for whom the work will be done (explain your case study and state all your assumptions (if any). A statement of the task to be undertaken. A preliminary requirements analysis. Suggested deliverables. Process to be followed, e.g., modified waterfall model, iterative refinement, incremental development, etc Visibility plan. How will you keep in contact with the client and report progress? How will you communicate among your team? . Outline plan, showing principal activities and milestones. Discussion of business considerations Risk analysis. What can go wrong? What is your fallback plan?
