Take time to discuss Socrates' mission as it related to the Delphic motto "Know thyself." You might think about how to differentiate between "navel gazing" and fruitful self-reflection. What, if anything, is lost by never wondering about who we are? Something as simple as asking yourself why self-knowledge is so difficult (if it is) invites discussion of profound philosophical issues: objectivity, self-deception, the nature of knowledge and self, the tension between action and introspection.
