Access relevant documents from a previously implemented development project completed by your department or organisation. These documents could include, but are not limited, to:
The project scope or project plan;
The project closure report;
The developmental projects progress reports;
The developmental projects initial budget; and
Project meeting minutes.
You need to collect as much information about the project as possible.
Use the information your collected and answer the questions that follow. You must validate the answers by providing evidence, so attach all documents you collect for the project to your portfolio.
1. Which development policy was used to implement this project? Explain your answer.
2. Identify and list (or highlight) the objectives and assumptions of the project.
3. Identify the organizational or department strategic goal this project is linked to.
4. Illustrate the operating process used to implement the project. Substantiate your answer.
5. Which public sector issue did the project address (eg poverty, fighting corruption, gender bias, etc)? Do you think this was done successfully? Explain your answer.
6. Identify the activities used to monitor and evaluate the outputs of the project. Do you think these were implemented successfully? Explain your answer.
7. Identify the issues and constraints of the project (financial, human resources, time frame, etc). Use what you have studied about change management:
a. What would you do differently to overcome the project issues and constraints?
b. How would you implement the different actions you listed above?
8. If you could implement the project again, would you do it the same way? If not, what suggestions would you make to the project manager to improve the outcomes of the project? If yes, what would you do to secure the sustainability of the implementation process?
9. Present your answer in report format no longer than 15 pages. Collate your information in an evaluation report. Your report should include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Title page
b. Table of content
c. Executive summary
d. Introduction
e. Background to the report
f. Research conducted
g. Analysis of research conducted
h. Solution to problems identified
i. Recommended improvement plan
j. Conclusion
k. Appendices Ensure that you present your report professionally:
Check for consistency in the format of your document
Use a text font (e.g. Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, etc.) acceptable for your organisation.
Check the grammar and spelling of your report
Ensure that you present the information logically and systematically
Use graphs / illustrations where you can and remember to interpret the information you present graphically.
Remember to number your pages
Remember to include your name and surname on the title page of yourreport
