Task $2$: Corpus size

The digital nature of corpora allows them to grow into sizes that are difficult for humans to grasp. With

this task, you might get a new appreciation for just how immense these collections of linguistic material

are. First, search on the web for the Leipzig Mandarin Chinese Web text corpus from $2019$ and find out

how many tokens it contains.

$1.$ Say you want to print out the contents of the corpus. At $12$pt size, you would be able to fit about $42$

characters per line and $42$ lines on a page. Calculate how many pages of paper it would take to fit all

the tokens in this corpus.

$2.$ Given an average reading speed of $255$ characters per minute, how long in total would it take a single

person to read all the printed pages? How many days$/$months$/$years would it take them, if you assume

that they are reading for $8$ hours every day without a break?
