Task
Every year the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) gives student end-of-course (EOC) tests for High School Courses and end-of-grade tests for elementary and middle schools.
We frequently have to give presentations to Cabinet or other stakeholders on our results. For this task, we would like you to create a presentation of results that you will give to the interview panel (acting as if they were Cabinet).
We would also like you to conduct statistical analyses using SAS that takes into account the past 3 school years to determine how well CMS will perform this year in reading and math (all students).
The datasets are located on the NCDPI website: NC Testing Data
The 2022-2023 school year dataset is under the 2022-23 Reports section. The dataset name is 2022-23 School Assessment and Other Indicator Data.
The 2021-22 and 2020-21 datasets are located under the Accountability Report Archive on the far right of the page. You will use the same School Assessment and Other Indicator Data file but the name will change by the year.
You will be given 20 minutes to walk through your presentation.
Types of questions we will ask include (but are not limited to):
1) how you started the task
2) what software/programming you used (SAS)
3) your thought process on organizing the results for the presentation
4) your thought process around the selected statistics
5) how you built your final file for analyses.
