Technologies in the Supply Chain
Introduction
Supply chain (Hugos 2018) is the process of all parties involved in satisfying a customer need through transforming inputs into the end product and involve multiple parties in the process. It can break into 3 parts: first of all, the supply chain is a process which has a life cycle, secondly, it involves material, information, funds and knowledge flow, and finally to satisfy customer needs by connecting with some big chain lines such as supplier supply products and services. With the development of an integrated global economy, now-days, supply chain management has become a key line in trade and international activities. Everything is related to supply chain, cause it not only convenient and swift for business “daily communication”, but also saving total cost. In recent years, the rapid development of advanced technologies shown up which significantly increased database transaction and data source greatly raised the security and sharply decreased the cost of labor. However, demand information and feedback information are transmitted one by one is most of the current chain system, and some of the disadvantages in these supply chain models with vertical integration is it can not 100% to predict the customer needs and cannot get market information in time, it is too difficult for enterprises to respond accurately. This paper introduced the technologies of 3D printing, blockchain, internet of things, RFID, and bar-code to the supply chain and how this technologies to make the information shared smoothly between factories in the supply chain and improving the advantage of the entire supply chain.
Literature Review
3D printing(Rogers, Baricz et al. 2016) be known as an additive, digital and rapid manufacturing, which is not only referred to one but multiple technologies and a huge manufacturing processes that make sure users to build a tangible object from a 3D model.3D printing tech does not have a lot of limits which users can build highly complex goods through a huge various material such as plastic, metal sandstone, wood and so on. Comparing with traditional manufacturing product (Attaran 2017) such as sculpture and printing, if the factory wants to create a toy gun, the only difficult thing is that they only need to do is to prepare for how to design the feature or size of the gun and then inset the specific programming code into the 3D printing machine which is the most important trigger for this technology. 3D technology is a new step in the world, cost-saving (Berman 2012)which enables tiny quantities of customized product to be built at low costs. Time-saving is one of the 3D tech advantages as the components of the open-source optics library are parametric, customizing a particular portion and having a design ready for printing is extraordinarily fast and easy.
Block chain(Pilkington 2016) is referred as an enormous database which can store and read information, the awesome something about this tech is to synchronous for every finished node to guarantee each blockchain is definitely matching and perfectly storage. Once the request transaction which is distributed database was created by each party on a blockchain, the back system will automatically work and the transaction data will be brought into a network to establish P2P (PEER TO PEER) transaction (Donet, Pérez-Sola et al. 2014) to verify and affirm how the request transaction account statutes, the transaction will is combined with other transactions into a final block database if the account was verified and affirmed. Finally, this new transaction will permanent and irreversibility of records in the blockchain, and finished (Iansiti and Lakhani 2017). The rapid development of blockchain technology (Plansky, O’Donnell et al. 2016) improves a lot of ways, which is closely bound up for everything likes for the human being, for business, and even for the environment.
Internet of things and blockchain work together (Banafa 2017). Blockchain can be used in tracking billions of connected devices to make sure the safety transaction and coordination between each party which can significant savings for IoT industry manufactures(Crosby, Pattanayak et al. 2016). The Internet of thing is a vision of connectivity for things to things, human to things via the internet This technology is really related to our daily lives, for example, there is a lab on the second floor, but the coffee machine on the ground floor, and it is very inconvenience for sciences to check whether the coffee is ready or not in time, so they might create a coding to connect a computer and coffee machine to aware of the time, it is a very good innovation. The impact of the internet of things technology is that it can replace us to do something very simple and small.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology (Sarac, Absi et al. 2010) is an automatic identification and data capture technology which is non-contact two-way data communication through radio frequency, reading and writing of recording media by radio frequency, so as to achieve the purpose of the identification aims and date sharing (Yu and Conway 2012). The technology is universally used in commerce, education, traffic, food and so on. Especially for the warehouse research, there are tens of thousands of goods stock in the warehouse, it is very hard to check the stock one by one. However barcode technology (Wang, Chen et al. 2010) can sharply help the RFID to increase the efficiency of operations. Each barcode has the own identity, once the scanner scans the barcode, all of the information will tell the reader what it is, like its name, material, origin and expiry date. Coles is one example that the cashier scans the goods by the barcode, it will automatically exhibit the price on the computer and the staff can use the scanner to scan the code of the products to check to expire date even automatically checked by the robotic.
Conclusion
In summary, the supply is associated with multiple parties and lasted for a long time. The Internet of things and the supply chain related to each other and help each other. Use technologies in the supply chain to ensure product and data exchange within an accurate and safe environment, like more effective order tracking and delivery because technology can quickly be fixed the mistake if the database cannot match with the customer needs and timely delivery of the product is a significant factor in ensuring buyer satisfaction. So the supply chain plus the internet of things plus technologies would create huge opportunities for higher revenue or lower costs in the integral global economic.
