Technology Comes to Marfa, Texas

OBJECTIVE

This assessment is designed to let you demonstrate your mastery of the following outcomes:

SCENARIO

You are a consultant for Spectrum and are being sent to Marfa, TX. Your company is going to set up the small city, school, and residents with Internet service using mixture of broadband and several WiFi hotspots around town. Spectrum had a cellular tower constructed just outside the town to provide service. Each resident and business will be given a modem and instructions on setting up their house. They will be given a website to log-in and a VPN to ensure services are secure. There are seven businesses in Marfa that will be given business website pages and domain names with your assistance You are to arrive tomorrow to brief the residents on the services that will be provided. Your supervisor informs you the residents have limited knowledge on any technology. It is your responsibility to clearly explain the services and technology so all understand.

DIRECTIONS

You will provide a presentation to the residents using the information from module 1 and your textbook/eBook chapters. The format and delivery mode will be up to you. REMEMBER your audience! Many are NOT technologically literate. Your supervisor is confident in your skills and communication skills, but she whispers as you leave, Dont mess this job up.
