Tera has a rule of schwa deletion, where word-final is deleted when it is in the middle of a sentence. However, this rule is blocked if the preceding syllable has a long vowel, or if the schwa is immediately preceded by two consonants. Thus, the final vowel in words such as [sode] 'snake' and [wure] 'tomorrow' would undergo schwa-deletion, however in words such as [parse] 'horse' and [ me:no] 'today' it would not. Explain with reference to moraic structure why schwa- deletion would be blocked in these environments. (2pts)
