Term Project - Job Analysis (Individual Assignment) (150 points) Description of Assignment For your individual project, you will be required to complete a job analysis, using one of the methods discussed in the text and in class. Job analysis can help organizations do a range of HR activities better, including hiring, defining performance expectations, making defensible HR decisions, and following employment laws and regulations. You will need to select one position in any industry and analyze the job in terms of the tasks done on the job as well as the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the tasks. You will also need to identify the tools/equipment used, as well as the conditions of the work environment. You will need to use one of two sources of information; a subject matter expert interview or O*Net. Your project should be written in single spaced, Times Roman, 12 point font, and include a cover page, a table of contents, and proper headings and formatting throughout the report. The report should be written in third person, not first-person as this is a professional report. (NOTE: The position selected should not be your current job, if employed.) Project Guidelines: 1. Think of the job you will analyze and a person you can interview 2. Read chapter three (3) to understand Job Analyses a. Read supplementary materials and handouts to grasp how you do specific steps 3. Contact the person in your selected job to schedule an interview (Family and Friends are always easy choices) and interview your Subject Matter Expert OR if a person is not available, then research job on O*Net 4. Write up your report that includes all of the sections listed below, ensure that all questions and comments listed in the evaluation criteria below are addressed in the appropriate sections, and ensure the final report is professional, well-organized, and presentable to any HR leader of an organization. Specific Information You Need to Have in Your Report: - Executive Summary (This is the first section of your job analysis report and summarizes the job analysis research process and findings - see example in Canvas) - Purpose of Project and Description of Organization - Description of Methods and Processes (Did you interview a subject matter expert or did you research on O*Net) - Finalized Task Inventory - Finalized KSAO List - Job Description (Properly formatted and with page breaks before and after this section so that it stands alone) - How you would use the information, what would you recommend the company do with the information you have gathered (e.g., selection, training, performance appraisal, etc.) (Atleast two insightful paragraphs for this section) - Short personal critique on the project and process (i.e., what went well, what didn't, what would you do differently next time) *See Page Two for more details on what should be included in each section and overall report expectations.
