The 1972 Munich Olympics (see item in Week 3)were marked by a terrorist attack during which eleven Israeli Olympic team members were taken hostage and eventually killed, along with a German police officer, by the Palestinian group Black September. Twenty-four years later, another, different form of terrorism occurred at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
