The aim of this project is to design and develop an Information System for a university library.
Specifications:
A list of bibliographic information on books should be stored
Number of copies of each book and the status of each copy should be stored.
Status of books on order should be stored.
Information on members should be stored
Information on books loaned should be stored.
The system should be able to print at least the following list of reports (This is just a reccomended list, please dont forget that every additional report implemented by the project team will effect their ranking in the class):
o List of books
o List of books on loan
o List and status of books ordered
o List of books due on a certain date
o List of books with problems (such as late books including the number of days it is overdue)
o A reminder letter to be issued to a borrower on a specified time (near to the due date for return).
o And etc...
The system should be able to perform and reply at least the following on-line queries (This is just a recommended list, please dont forget that every additional query implemented by the project team will effect their ranking in the class):
o Communication information about a member.
o Status of a certain book.
o Number of books on loan.
o Number of books loaned by a certain member.
o Name of the member who borrowed a certain book, etc.
Project Requirements:
Design a database to store all necessary data
User interface on Access
o Tables
o Queries
o Forms
o Reports
It should be designed as a Relational Data Base and implemented such that it can be used on a single PC with an accompanying printer.
All input data should be entered into screen forms and all modifications should be done on screen forms. Ergonomic features of the user interface should be taken into account.
The written report should include the objectives of the system, the results of the system analysis, a design and implementation critique and a USER MANUAL.
The report should be neatly written with proper content in addition to sections like TABLE OF CONTENTS, INTRODUCTION, ....., CONCLUSION, REFERENCES
