The APA (2010) ethics code defines a multiple relationship as one in which a practitioner is in a professional role with a person in addition to another role with that same individual, or with another person who is close to that individual(Corey et al., 2019, p. 256). Multiple relationships can include sexual, friendship, or business. Nonsexual multiple relationships are not inherently unethical and are sometimes unavoidable. However, multiple relationships may have the potential to cause significant harm to clients. For this assignment, write a one-two page double-spaced paper expressing your views on multiple relationships in the helping profession. Please address each type of relationship as well as the following questions: Does the length and quality of the therapy relationship have a bearing on the ethics involved in such a personal relationship? (for example: should the same "rules" apply to a client you have worked with for 6 months 2 hours per week on very personal issues and a client that you work with for 6 weeks on time management and job counseling?) Explain your response. React to the statement, "Once a client, always a client." What do ethical codes have to say about relationships with former clients or those close to the client/former client?
Always support your reasoning with material from the assigned reading using in-text citations and references in APA 7.0. Please include the questions with your answers.
