The Application Assignments require you to dig deeper and apply the material covered in the readings and the lectures.

The Application Assignment for this week aligns with Module Objectives MO1-MO5.

For each module, complete the following:

  • Choose five key terms that are discussed in the videos and readings for this week's module. Keywords can be found in the title, abstract or subheadings of the articles, identified in the micro-lecture videos, or another term that struck you as you completed the Learn part of this module.
  • Write down each of your five key terms in a Powerpoint document. Use one slide per key term. For each key term (i.e. five times):
    • Give a short descriptionthat explains the theoretical meaning of the key term.
    • Identify an illustrative example that applies the key term in the real world around you. The example can come from one of the following three areas:
      1. A visual example(e.g. photograph or diagram) of the key term as you experience it in your everyday life and environment. For example, with customer centricity, you might take a photo of a recent (positive or negative) customer experience you had. For photos, note the time and place the photograph was taken. OR
      2. A link to a news story from the last three monthsthat discusses and applies the key term in a real-world situation. These examples must come from reputable mainstream publications. This includes consumer magazines like Time, Havard Business Review, Fast Company or Fortune, etc, trade magazines such as Food and Beverage magazine, Marketing Week or Government Procurement magazine, and newspapers like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, or Washington Post. You have access to the full text of all these publications through the Radford University library. Please note that random blog posts are not acceptable sources. Provide a link to the article together with the publication name, author(s), and date of publication. OR
      3. A link to an academic articlefrom the last three years that discusses and applies the key term in a real-world research situation. These examples must come from reputable (non-predatory) academic journals such as The Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, etc. Provide a link to the article together with the publication name, author(s), and date of publication. Please refer to the library resources section for more details on how to conduct literature searches using Radford University resources.
    • Arrange a short narrative or story thatdiscusses your photo, news story, or academic article. This narrative must do three things:
      1. Explain why you chose this example to illustrate the key term.
      2. Demonstrate that you understand the meaning and application of the key term.
      3. Evaluate or critique the success or effectiveness of the example you chose.
