THE ASSIGNMENT
Robert Viscous, is the new manager of a large retail sales store that is doing well with sales, customer loyalty, and employee morale. Robert comes back from an Information Technology conference in Las Vegas. He is very excited about an amazing new software called WHIZKID than quickly correlates the volume sold of all specific purchases with price, date, time of day, and the number and profile of employees working each shift. He sees this as a great idea to manage employees, inventory, and planning.
Robert goes straight to the owners of the store and gets approval to go ahead and install the new software using outside consultants recommended by his boss. Being a new MBA graduate, Robert knows he needs a change management plan. So, he calls a meeting of some employees to create a change management team. The team includes Robert as the head, the sales manager, the H.R. manager, a consultant from WHIZKID, and a hired public relations consultant.
In the first meeting, Roberts tells the team of my great discovery of new software that will make this company super productive! He says a deadline of 6 months is a do-able goal, because how hard can it be? Just plug and play, right?
