The biggest challenge in financing healthcare is scarcity. Scarcity is the concept that the need or want for services are greater than the availability of the resources needed for the services. This concept is important in the healthcare field and economics of healthcare because with the rising costs and availability of these services, this can affect all of the medical field. When resources are not available, there are issues that need to be addressed in order for the healthcare system to continue their work and provide accurate care for their patients. With the rising costs of resources and services in the healthcare system, there needs to be accessibility for patients to get the care they need. Not only does the cost of the service go up, but the cost of the equipment, doctors, and health insurance are all working together and rise in cost. Healthcare coverage can be overwhelming and expensive to patients and at the same time be difficult for the healthcare offices to keep track of with the costs of all the services provided. The pandemic was a prefect example of how the healthcare services and products were in high demand and couldn't be replaced fast enough. The demand was extremely high for the products but the resources were not there to get the products to the consumers fast enough. Doctors were in high demand to help with the sick and people needed healthcare to be affordable. The US healthcare marketplace has many challenges, but the more we can learn about how to help the cost and availability of the healthcare services then this can help in the future of the US healthcare system.
