The Canberra Cat Caf (CCC) is in the Australian Capital Territory. Visitors pay an entry fee to interact with cats on the premises. Claire is the manager. CatScratch makes furniture for cats and people. CCC chose a design and sent CatScratch a draft contract. CatScratch returned the contract, signed. A week later CatScratch asked for confirmation, as it had another client who also wanted work done and it could not do both in the timeframe. CCC did not sign the contract because it was not sure if it wanted to sign, as it was still seeking quotes from other suppliers. However, CCC told CatScratch: "We will definitely sign the contract as we want you to do the work for that price". On the basis of this conversation, CatScratch declined the other job and began to work on the job for CCC. When the work was almost complete, Claire called to advise that CCC had decided not to sign the contract. Catscratch was able to sell the furniture to a pet shop for the same price. However, the company is angry and still wants CCC to pay the money. Advise CatScratch.
