The Case Study FAME Forondo Artist Management Excellence INC

Forondo Artist Management Excellence INC, FAME, is an artist management company that represents solo artists both nationally and internationally. FAME has more than 500 artists under management. The business model for FAME is as follows: FAME finds paid performance opportunities for its artists and receives a 10-30 percent royalty. Artists are responsible for all direct expenses, such as flyers, photos, photo printing, advertisements, etc. Managers of artists receive 50 % of the royalties that FAME earns. The rest of the money covers costs such as FAMEs rent, computer systems, accounting services etc. FAME only receives revenue if the artist completes the engagement. Canceled performances result in no revenue for FAME or the manager.

FAME needs technology to support several of its tasks, including keeping track of prospective artists and manager revenues. Prospective artists are first mailed a contract proposal. If the artist accepts, a final contract is mailed to the prospect. A new system for managing all aspects of FAMEs business has been proposed by the owner, Martin Forondo. His ultimate goal, beyond tracking artists and manager fees, all expenses, and completed performances is a real time system to understand how effectively managers are serving their artists. Another important aspect of the system would be the ability to predict future incomes of the company, FAME.

In an effort to accomplish all of the system requirements detailed above, a prelimary data model has been designed. But this model will require testing to determine its utility for FAME.

You will find:

• A preliminary data model for this new database system - mwb.
• In addition, you will find all of the SQL statements necessary to create the database tables for this system.
• You can load test data into the tables of your database with a SQL file of data insert statements. Note that the data is limited to allow you to verify your answers easily.

Your Task is to test the database design. To that end you should:

• Create a new database/schema to house the tables that are required for FAME.
• Create the tables for this database from the SQL file- use file sql
• Load the tables with data- use file sql.
• Answer the preliminary questions to test/demonstrate the structures that you have created and to determine if this proposed database model will suffice for FAMEs reporting purposes.
• The assignment is in 2 parts. Part 1 RESULTS (20 points) requires you to answer the questions in the Quiz in Canvas. Part 2 SQL Statements (20 points) requires you to write the SQL statements that you constructed to answer the questions. You may cut and paste these from MYSQL Workbench.
