The CEO, President, and Chairman of Lockheed Martin, Robert Stevens, says that the way they communicate their expectations and values clearly is by leading by example. He says that in doing so they are emulating a standard of excellence and integrity in our own behavior. It is important to be conscious of your own behavior in order to thrive to be a better person. The second thing they do is walk the talk, which means that you send a message about the way you conduct yourself. You have to conduct yourself in a manner that defines your position and shows the employees how to properly conduct themselves as well. Little things like this, even though they sound obvious, aren't done in most situations. In order to have the ethical culture they have worked on, they have enforced fundamentals of how you should conduct yourself.

Under the leadership tab, L-M writes things that are imperative to leaders. One of them is, "Build Effective Relationships - Leaders need to be able to establish and maintain strong, enduring and effective relationships within Lockheed Martin and with our customers, employees, teammates, and community." This relates to one of the 16 best practices which is the on Compliances/ Ethics Program Personnel. It mentions that a specific individual is in charge of the program and is accountable for the operations. That specific individual must be a leader, they must build effective relationships in order for operations to run smoothly.
