The content from EOHS 570 has aligned perfectly with my new position as a Safety Officer at a hospital. While a majority of the information I have had exposure to through my work, it has been nice revisiting topics such as the Industrial Hygiene principles of anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control. In my position, I am responsible for conducting root cause analyses on processes to help guide corrective actions. While the content within EOHS 570 does not always have the application side of these concepts at the level that I would use in my work, I believe it is a great starting point for understanding a majority of the topics/items that you will see in the work environment for a Safety Officer. For instance, I am currently working on a biosafety level risk assessment for our lab, and it just so happened that this was about the same time we were reviewing controls for biological hazards. I paired the information that I was learning here with what I already know to start making effective corrective actions utilizing the levels of controls.
