1. The current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) does not differentiate between substance abuse and substance dependence. Please describe the differences between substance abuse and substance dependence.
2. Because of the changes in the DSM noted above, please describe at least one problem that could occur when clinicians are not clear about the clinical presentation of the client (e.g. substance abuse vs. dependence).
