The data analysis output below is a repeated measures ANOVA that was conducted to answer the following research question: Does a short-term form of therapy increase selfesteem among patients receiving care in a mental health clinic? The self-esteem was measured by completing a self-esteem inventory (high scores mean high self-esteem). Each patient completed a self-esteem inventory prior to the first treatment (baseline) at 5 weeks, and 10 weeks after receiving the short-term form of therapy. Please answer the questions that appear after the SPSS output. (5 points) For pairwise comparisons the variables are coded 1= Baseline; 2=5 weeks; and 3=10 weeks. Mauchly's Test of Sphericitya Tests the null hypothesis that the error covariance matrix of the orthonormalized transformed dependent variables is proportional to an identity matrix. a. Design: Intercept Within Subjects Design: factor 1 b. May be used to adjust the degrees of freedom for the averaged tests of significance. Corrected tests are displayed in the Tests of Within-Subjects Effects table. Tests of Within-Subjects Effects Mpsciura. Salf_octoam Pairwise Comparisons Measure: Self-esteem Based on estimated marginal means *. The mean difference is significant at the .05 level. b. Adjustment for multiple comparisons: Bonferroni. Based on the above output tables: a. Descriptively, at which time period did patients score highest on self-esteem? (1 point) b. Descriptively, at which time period did patients score lowest on self-esteem? ( 1 point) c. How would you interpret the results of the Mauchly's test for sphericity in the output? (1 point) d. Please interpret the pairwise comparisons for these variables. In the interpretation, indicate mean scores and standard deviations (or mean differences and standard errors) where significant differences exist. (2 points)
