The debate has been ongoing regarding the use of nuclear energy as an alternative to coal/petroleum fuels/etc. Certainly, like all things, there are risks and benefits in its use. Watch the movie 'The China Syndrome', consider historic events like 3 Mile Island, Chernobyl, and current uses of nuclear power plants around the world. Also consider current information on nuclear safety, climate change issues and concerns, etc. and prepare a written risk assessment of the potential use of nuclear power as a clean energy source (from a risk management perspective). The view should be that of a risk manager for the State of New York as it considers building a new nuclear power plant as an energy source (hypothetically of course).
