The defendant, Mr. Chase, offered to sell his business to the complainant, Mr Gagan. He offered to sell it for 2,200, but this was declined by Mr Gagan. The defendant decided to write to the complainant with another offer; this time to sell the farm to him for 1,000. He made it clear that this would be his final offer regarding the property. In response, Mr Gagan offered 550 for the farm in his letter. This was refused by Mr Chase and he confirmed this with the complainant. Mr Gagan then decided that he would now accept the business for 1,000 as previously offered by Mr Chase. But Mr.Chase has sold the business to someone else and Mr Gagan has taken Mr. Chase in court because he believes there was a contract. Advise Mr Chase
