Each participant played the game 3 times and multiple characteristics of the attempts were recorded. These characteristics included participant gender (male/female), result of the game (win/loss), number of objects extracted, and total time played (measured in seconds). A simplified version of the dataset named project_round1_midterm is provided for you, and this dataset presents the results of every participant's first attempt at the game. Use this to answer 1a-1d. (24 points total) a. We want to compare the total game time of the first attempt between men and women. Determine how many men and women participated and determine the sample mean and standard deviation of the game times for men and for women. (6 points) b. Display the distributions of the total game time for men and women by using graphical methods and present them below (boxplots are preferred, but you may choose a different graphical representation as long as it is appropriate and helps to illustrate the distributions). (6 points) c. Use your answer from (a) and (b) to visually assess whether the distribution of game times for men differs from women. This is a subjective interpretation so justify your answer. (2 points) d. It is important to assess whether the variance of total game times are similar for men and women. Construct 95% confidence intervals for the variance of total game time for men and women separately. (8 points) 1.
