The FBI, in coordination with the Buffalo Police Department, arrested ten people in relation to a bank robbery: Benny the blueprint, Brad the babysitter, Donnie the driver, Gary the security guard, Grandma, Luke the lookout, Marco the mastermind, Sal the stick-up, Sam the security installer, and Vinnie the vault. The following is a description of the crime and roles the ten arrestees played in the heist.

Marco organized an elaborate bank robbery. He did not participate in the robbery itself, but he asked his friends Luke, Sal, Sam, and Vinnie to help him out. He also offered a small cut of the proceeds to Acme Bank's security guard, Gary, to fail to notify the police during the robbery. Sam worked for the company that installed the security system in the bank, so he provided Marco with a diagram of the wiring and which wire to cut to disable the cameras. Luke paid Benny in advance for blueprints to Acme Bank that showed how to leave the bank undetected through the lower level and come out on the adjoining street. Sal agreed to be the man to hold a gun to a teller's head and demand money, and he brought his friend Brad in to help keep an eye on the customers and employees. Luke would be a look-out. Sal asked his friend Donnie to be their getaway driver, and he agreed and stole a car to use in the getaway. Vinnie would get into the bank vault. Sal, Brad, and Vinnie would carry the bags of money out of the bank.

The robbery occurred as planned, with a few exceptions. Sam wanted to back out. He told the group he did not want his cut, and he took back the diagram of the security wiring. He did not go to the police or do anything further to try to prevent the robbery. Brad injured a bank employee when he hit the person with his gun. Donnie got nervous during the getaway, so he drove them all to his grandma's house. He explained what they had just done, and she let them hide in her basement until the heat died down.
