The footings for a building in College Park, MD consist of 40, 9'-6" square spread footings that are 2'-3" thick. The footings use 3,000 psi concrete and are reinforced with #8 bars at 10" o.c.e.w. at the bottom of the footing. The required side and end cover (distance from face of concrete to bar) for the bars is 3" and the required bottom cover is 3". The footing also has 4, #6 dowels extending up into the column. The dowels rest on top of the bottom mat of reinforcement in the footing, have a standard hook (9" long for #6 bars) on the bottom, and must extend at least 1'-3" into the column.

  1. Determine the bare cost to supply and place the footing reinforcement.
  2. Determine the total bare cost for the footing, in-place, using the correct assembly in RSMeans section 03 30 53.40
