The heterogeneous, catalytic, irreversible, first - order, isothermal gas phase reaction: A B occurs in a CSTR and the measured ( observed ) reaction rate

The heterogeneous, catalytic, irreversible, first-order, isothermal gas phase reaction:
AB
occurs in a CSTR and the measured (observed) reaction rate of 210-3molgcat-1s-1 is independent of the
reactor stirring rate. The feed stream is pure A flowing at 0.1mols-1 with a concentration of A of 210-5
molcm-3. The reactor contains 10g of catalyst pellets, in spheres of 0.03cm radius with a specific surface
area of 120m2g-1 and a density of 2.2gcm-3. The effective diffusion coefficient in the pellets is 10-3cm2
s-1. What is the total effectiveness factor for this reaction? To solve this problem, I would recommend first
answering the following parts:
Is this a porous catalyst?
What can you say about the concentration of A at the surface (CA,surface), before having to do any
calculations (i.e., not a specific number)?
What is the design equation you would use to solve for conversion in the CSTR?
What is the outlet CA? Reactor CA?CA,surface?
What is the internal effectiveness factor in terms of observed rate?
What is the internal effectiveness factor under strong internal diffusion limitations?
o What is the Thiele modulus for this reaction?
What is the value of k(rate constant)? Assume that using the catalyst density given can convert
between k and k'.
What is the internal effectiveness factor?
