Messages or information must be changed in such a way that the message cannot be easily read by an enemy or unauthorized user, but they can be easily decoded by the intended recipient. Some basic definitions that we will need: Key the bits that are combined with the plain text to encrypt it. In some cases this is random numbers, in other cases it is the result of some mathematical operation. Plain Text The unencrypted text Cipher Text The encrypted text Algorithm A mathematical process for doing something. Lab Steps: 1. Install the Advanced Encryption Package 2. Create a text file with your birth date written in the file. (Oct. 24, 1974) 3. Save the file as, BDInfo.txt 4. Open the Advanced Encryption Package software and navigate to where you stored the BDInfo.txt file. Select your BDInfo.txt file. 5. Click the Encrypt button 6. Use the password peter@1218!! 7. Enter the password two times. 8. Click on Encrypt Now 9. Now navigate to the BDInfo.txt file and notice the way it now looks different. 10. Now navigate to the BDinfo.txt file inside the Advanced Encryption Package software and select the file and choose decrypt. Submit a screen shot of the encrypted file.
