The implementation of a new school curriculum for Mathematics in South Africa started in 1998 in an attempt to improve the quality of the learning of Mathematics. However, various investigations done during the past decade indicate that the teaching of Mathematics in school still does not meet the expectation to improve the quality of Mathematics learning.

Deduce guidelines about the teaching and learning of Mathematics in the Senior-FET phase that could resolve the problem situation.
