The increasing interest about Performance Measurement Systems (PMS) in the public sector can be seen through the introduction of various types of performance measurement initiatives such as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Balanced Scorecards and other measures all undertaken as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the services of government agencies at all levels and to promote both transparency and accountability of the government.
