The Indonesian government is collaborating with e-commerce Lazada Indonesia to echo the Proud Indonesia program.
This campaign was opened by the presence of President Joko Widodo via teleconference on Thursday (14/5) at 10.00 WIB.
The event was also attended by several ranks of the Indonesian Ministry such as the Minister of the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo), Johnny G. Plate and the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Wishnutama.
"The economic impact is quite large and the President also suggested that offline MSMEs can switch to online to increase income," said Airlangga.
The government has also provided a tax subsidy program for MSME players so as not to burden their business.
Wishnutama, as Menparekraf also said that with this program it is hoped that the community can foster a sense of pride in Indonesian products.
"This sense of pride is what we are trying to create in the midst of a pandemic," he said.
He also suggested that MSME business actors could take advantage of the conditions by producing quality products.
With this collaboration with Lazada, the government hopes that SMEs in Indonesia can be helped in terms of income.
The government feels that the current existence of e-commerce is indeed one of the main supporters for the community so that they can continue to sell.
The online event also attended one of the merchants who said that with e-commerce, their sales results could increase.
"I was able to get double my income during this pandemic by selling them online," said Ulfah, a skin cracker entrepreneur.
Although this is a good step, what about network availability?
Related to this, the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate stated that in fact, in the current condition, it is the momentum for digital transformation.
However, until now it is still constrained by the large cost of doing this.
Currently, the Minister of Communication and Informatics can only provide assistance in building connections or satellites to expand the network strength of cellular operators, which are usually specialized in an area.
"This development is to help people make good use of digital space," said Johnny.
"We must be able to help them (MSMEs) migrate from offline to online," he concluded.
Question: In your opinion, what should Lazada do for a follow-up to the Proud Made Indonesia program to continue to be able to sustain its business in a sustainable manner while maintaining environmental welfare (in this case Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises)? Draft the strategy!
