The interest rate on my Space Coast Credit Union savings account is 0.04% which I entered into R1. With a search of the web, I see Chase bank is showing savings accounts at 0.01% which is R2. Comparing the plots, they are both very low interest rates, but you can start to see how at year 4 and 5 there is some separation in the lines where the red line with 0.04% is growing faster than the green line at 0.01%. I found the 7-year point on each line to see the difference in growth factor principal which has a difference of about 10. I feel a bit vulnerable to admit this, but I don't pay much attention to my personal savings account as I was saving quite aggressively into my 401k, and I didn't have much left over to save after factoring for cost of living in Miami, Florida. I thought that historically APYs on savings accounts had been low and understood it was better to put your money somewhere where it could earn more if that was possible for you. I was really surprised to see just how low the two interest rates were. what does this means
