The International Franchise Association (IFA) is the world's oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide. The organization represents over 1400 different brands. One of the most important roles of the IFA is advocacy. The IFA "works through its government relations and public policy, media relations and educational programs to protect, enhance and promote franchising."

On the IFA's website, there is a section entitled "Power of Brands." According to the IFA, the "Power of Brands" represents an integral component of franchising's economic success amounting to nearly 3% of the US GDP.
