The Kingdom of Bahrain has introduced a strategy of tourism for the years 2022-2026.

The strategys framework includes four main objectives: increase the contribution of tourism to GDP to reach 11.4 percent in 2026, to highlight Bahrains position as a global tourist hub, increase the number of targeted countries to attract more tourists, and diversify tourism products.

The strategy is based on seven pillars: developing marine attractions, business tourism, sports tourism, recreational tourism, medical tourism, cultural tourism, and media tourism and cinematography.

The launch of the new tourism strategy follows the implementation of major national tourism projects, including the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sakhir.

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority is also developing

several tourism projects, including the diving waterfront, the Bahrain Bay beach project, and the Qalali Coast waterfront.

Projects such as the Mantis Hotel and Resort in the Hawar Islands, the Jumeirah Bahrain Bay Resort, the Tourist City project, the Bilaj Aljazayer Beach development project and the Saada project.

As part of the requirements of this course, you are required to choose one of the tracks below:

Strategy Development & Realization

Imagine yourself as a consultant appointed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Tourism. Provide a written consultancy elaborating on the initiatives that the government must take to develop the industry and realize the objectives of the new strategy.

Business Plan

You should prepare a start-up plan from scratch in light of the new strategy. Explain step-by-step how you will turn the business idea into a reality. Explain how this new business will exploit the new strategy to make a profit.

Business Consultancy Project

You should look for a currently operating tourism business that is facing difficulties from COVID-19 pandemic. You should provide a written consultancy to that business. Make sure to explain how this business cans exploit the new strategy to survive and thrive.

You are expected to write a minimum of 1,500-2,000 words reflecting upon the topics discussed in class:

Demandandsupplyoftourism;

Forms of tourism;

Tourismintermediaries;

Economic impacts of tourism;

Social and cultural impacts of tourism;

Environmental impacts of tourism;

Tourism marketing; and

Future of tourism in Bahrain & the world.

Submission Details:

1. Answer all the questions (MS Word Document) and prepare a MS PowerPoint Presentation.

2. Each group is required to submit two files, one Written Project (MS Word Document) and one PowerPoint Presentation file through Blackboard. Only the group leaders of each group are required to submit these two documents on behalf of the group. All students are not required to submit these documents; however, each student is required to take equal responsibility of writing the case study project and live presentation.

3. Each group must present the project using MS PowerPoint Presentation.

Important Instructions

a) Project should be typed in 12 point-Times New Roman Font with a 1.5 space and single column with 1" margin on a standard A4 size paper. The pages must be numbered. All headings / Subheadings must be bold-faced, aligned left and fully capitalized.

b) Figures and tables should be centered, separately numbered, self-explained. Please note that table titles must be above the table and Sources of data should be mentioned below the table. Students should ensure that tables and figures are referred to from the main text.

c) The students should list all references alphabetically. It must be at the end of the assignment. The students are advised to use APA referencing system and mention only those references used in their research assignment.

e) Please note that the students are required to present only original work done by them. There is zero tolerance towards Plagiarism. Plagiarism or violation of code of conduct will be viewed seriously and will be dealt with according to university regulations.

f) The groups should prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the case study in no more than 10 minutes. It will be an individual presentation.

g) Students who will miss the presentation should expect to get (0 grades).
