T]he lawyer is often in a position of privilege and power compared with the client, especially the unsophisticated individual client. People may have to use a lawyer for the first time when they are in a vulnerable social, emotional and financial situation and need legal help quickly when they suffer a disputatious [or litigious] relationship breakdown or get arrested and charged for a criminal offence.
