Project Background PROTON Malaysia is a tier-one manufacturer to the automotive industry based in Malaysia. PROTON Malaysia installed a project management methodology based on nine project management knowledge areas between 2019 and 2021 in the hopes of improving their company processes. The methodology was accepted and used by all 12,000 employees worldwide. The results were well received by management. Furthermore, PROTON Malaysia's customer base was pleased with the methodology and awarded PROTON Malaysia with quality award recognition, which everyone thought was due to how well the project management methodology was executed. PROTON Malaysia decided to offer new products to its customers in February 2022. PROTON Malaysia sold a 49.9% stake to Geely Automobile Holdings (GAH), a global tier-one automobile company. GAH also had a good reputation for project management and provided high-quality products. Many of its products resembled those offered by PROTON Malaysia. Because employees from both companies would be collaborating closely, a single project management methodology that was acceptable to both companies would be required. GAH had an excellent methodology that was based on five life-cycle phases. Both methodologies had benefits and drawbacks, and both were well received by their customers. GAH will be working with PROTON to launch the new Proton X90 nationwide, which will include marketing promotions and sales execution programs.
