The New York Yacht Club has selected your team to manage their entry (sailboat) for the Americas Cup race. The next race will take place in Cork, Ireland in 2024. The program has two parallel paths: training of the crew and the design & construction of the boat. The base requirements from the Yacht Club are that the boat be ready in 45 weeks with a trained crew at a budget of $3.2M (rounded at the $100K level). You have access to a sailboat from the last Americas Cup race where you can train your crew so the training and boat construction can occur concurrently. Training can start after the crew is selected. The indirect cost is the maintenance of the sailboats once training starts. On the old boat, the cost is $4,000 per week. Once you move to the new boat, costs increase to $6,000 per week.

You have three deliverables for this project:

a) Activity-on-node showing the project timelines based on the excel direct cost file holding to a $3.2M budget. Show a total cost (remember to include indirect costs). This is your normal.

b) Cost-Duration trade off that goes from your normal timeline to a 45-week timeline. Be sure to highlight the activities you would crash.

c) A business memo to New York Yacht Club from all the team members. Your memo should be written in a professional manner and answer the following questions:

1) How long will project take if we hold to $3.2M (rounded) budget?

2) What would be the cost to achieve a project time of 45 weeks?

3) What activities would you crash to reach 45 weeks?
