The posting notes that the position is made up of other tasks other than just accounting, although that does account for 60% of the role. Analysis & reporting makes up 20%, internal controls is 10%, and internal communication makes up the remaining 10%. This position requires an accounting or finance degree, but otherwise, expects someone hardworking and willing to learn to prepare monthly expense analyses, analyze balance sheet and expense accounts, and assist with internal and external audit requests.

Government-based: Cobb County Government, Accountant 1:

This position requires a degree in finance, accounting, or another related field. Similar to Carter's posting, this position requires preparing and approving journal entries, data entry, and preparing and submitting related reports. In contrast to the Carter's position, this position receives and disburses funds.

Non-profit: Trees Atlanta, Accounting & Grant Specialist:

This is the most advanced position of the three that I researched for this post. While the others were relatively "entry-level", this position requires 5-10 years of experience in accounting, specifically in the non-profit sector. This position requires the recording and management of accounts receivable functions, the processing and recording of deposits, and the preparation and presentation of information to the Board. In contrast to the other aforementioned positions, this position requires the handling and management of federal grants.

I find the Trees Atlanta posting most appealing to me. The other positions would be essential in developing base-level, hands-on accounting knowledge, this position goes above and beyond that with the presentation of financial information to the Board of Directors. Taking the next steps beyond just the preparation of documentation is very appealing to me. For the sake of this job posting, the problem sets and projects from this course that deal specifically with non-profit accounting would be very helpful to this position and the required experience.
