The Privacy Law in New Zealand has changed (with the new Privacy Law Act 2020 repealing and replacing the Privacy Act 1993) and knows that there were many submissions from New Zealand businesses about the Bill at the Parliamentary Select Committee stage of passing the new Act. She wants you to brief her on certain matters.

Firstly (1) Very brief outline of why a new Privacy Act was necessary (including explaining the meaning of "repeal and replace"),

Secondly (2), a brief explanation of whether there are any new information privacy principles Between the Privacy Act 2020 and 1993 in New Zealand.

Third (3) a discussion of "notifiable privacy breaches" (ss 112 - 122 of the Privacy Act 2020) which she has heard is a part of the new Act that was controversial and is particularly important to understand.
