THE PROGRAM:
At the C++ store, were going to write a program that helps our gift-wrap department calculate the exact amount of ribbon it needs when gift-wrapping a box. The programs job is to calculate the total amount of ribbon that is needed when a box is wrapped.
First, call your header, then start a do while or while loop so the user can calculate many ribbon lengths. In main, ask the box-wrapper to enter the length, width, and height of the box in inches. Call a CalcRibbon function to calculate the exact length of ribbon needed to wrap the box in a pattern as shown on the board. There should be 12 inches on EACH end of the ribbon to make a fancy bow. See the model.
Note: The gift-wrapper sets the box in the middle of the long piece of ribbon. He/she brings the ribbon up around the box, crosses the ribbon, then flips the box over and ties the ribbon at the top. You may assume that the knot does not take any additional length of ribbon. As stated above, there should be 12 inches on EACH end of the ribbon to make a fancy bow.
You will need variables for length, width, and height of the box. Do Not assume that your box is in whole inches. You will also need a variable for the exact total length of ribbon.
Call CalcRibbon to get the total length. Then call WriteRibbonReport to cout the information to the user (gift-wrapper). This would be a nicely formatted report that tells the user the length, width, the height of the box and total length of ribbon that is required to wrap the gift.
Here is a list of the names of the functions you will need. You decide what to pass to each function and what, if anything, to return. All functions are called from main.
Prototype Name | Content |
Header | Write your program header |
CalcRibbon | Calculate how much ribbon is required. |
WriteRibbonReport | In the function, report the dimensions of the box and the total length of ribbon required. |
Give your box-wrapper the opportunity to calculate ribbon length for more boxes, and then when he/she is finished, write a Good-Bye message.
