The purpose of this assignment is to explore a Canadian researcher that specializes in studying/treating a specific injury to the circulatory, digestive, or respiratory systems. The students will explore the internal systems using an online simulation, choose a particular disorder to focus on, and generate an educational resource that can help facilitate an interaction between a patient with that disorder and the cutting-edge researcher that can potentially lead to the patient's healing. This assignment is worth 15% of your course grade. Instructions 1. Find a virtual internal systems simulator such as the Zygote Body 3D Anatomy Online Visualizer to explore the respiratory, circulatory, and digestive systems. 2. Pick an organ or tissue in one of the systems observed in step 1. 3. Research a disorder/disease that occurs with this particular organ/tissue. 4. Create an infographic and include your findings from your research into the disorder/disease. Summarize what the disease is, the causes & symptoms of the disease, how it affects the specific organ/tissue you selected in step 2, how it affects the entire organ system to which it is a part of as well as the other two organ systems in step 1. You may choose to create your infographic by hand or use digital tools such as Canva, Piktochart, Visme, Google Drawings, Microsoft Word, or any other platform you are familiar with. 5. Include a Canadian researcher who specializes in studying and/or treating the disease/disorder that you selected. The name, profession, title, and organization that the researcher belongs to must be included in your infographic. The method of treatment or specific area of study must be described, as well as its implications on the life of the patient. 6. Include the years of education, type of education and training, and approximate salary of the researcher that you identified in your infographic. For this assignment, you will need to submit your infographic consisting of your findings about the disease/disorder, relevant information about the Canadian researcher that specializes in that disease/disorder, and an APA-formatted reference list.
