Question
The purpose statement of this research is to find ways to reduce the dangers and increased risks of catastrophic wildfires that WUI represents for communities
The purpose statement of this research is to find ways to reduce the dangers and increased risks of catastrophic wildfires that WUI represents for communities and ecosystems. the problem that arises here is that the phenomenon of WUI (interface zone wild-urban) spawns wildfires because Houses are essentially big piles of fuel approximately 41% of housing has been built in WUI. Such as wild vegetation, buildings, and infrastructure, or flammable materials thrown into the forest. And also, WUI is a threat to ecosystems. Housing growth is a major cause of habitat destruction and this manifests itself in both rural and urban sprawl. This is a subject that needs to have great attention because approximately one in three houses and one in ten hectares are now in the WUI. These WUI growth trends will exacerbate wildfire problems in the future. The US government has an interest in looking into the subject and allowing funds to solve it. because when We examine the number of houses that have been built since 1990 in the United States in or near natural vegetation, in an area known as the wildland-urban interface (WUI), we note that a large number of houses have been built there and this is a danger to the problem raised. So, you could "test" different ways to reduce WUI - to determine the most effective method.
the research questions What is the relationship between different mitigation strategies and WUI fire damage Of course you have to define each variable (1) mitigation strategies and (2) WUI fire damage.
quantitative would be a better approach.
Tips to improve your work:
1)your independent variable is mitigation strategies: presents the different strategies depending on the fire cases of each dwelling. variable level is nominal (use statistical analysis )
2) your dependent variable is the WUI (wildland urban interface) fire damage. variable level is ratio . example: (multiple millions dollars of structure destroy etc....)
3) your design: historical data collection. example : previous fire events
4) sample : how many cases do you have? based on your research study correlated to your number of strategies.
example: if you have 30 similar cases multiplication by 5 strategies.
5) about Data Collection Protocol you can use the existing data base from internet about the WUI subject.
