The question you want to answer and a short explanation of why you picked it. The question you pick should be phrased as a difference of means. You should also have a graphical comparison of the data you are comparing (e.g. side by side box plots or side by side bar charts). You should also have summary metrics, such as two-way tables or five number summaries (depending on your data). You will used source data (i.e. a newspaper article or website). Make sure you can upload the file or data into StatKey. Introduction: Your introduction presents the context of your dataset; it must make clear the details of your data, including what the cases are and what the variables represent. This is where you clearly state the question you are investigating and why you think it is interesting. Data Collection: This is where you describe how you collected your data and why you think it is unbiased. If there is bias, you can explain it here. Data Analysis: This is where you include the description of your data, the confidence interval and hypothesis test results. Data Analysis : Inference for a Difference in Means This project asks you to collect and analyze your own data for a difference in means. You must use statistical software (e.g. StatKey) to perform the analysis and cut and paste output from the software to verify your answers. All results should include both computer output and a discussion of the results in your own words. Data Description: Include a graph of the data in your quantitative variable and include summary statistics (mean, standard deviation, five number summary). Discuss the results. In addition, give summary statistics (mean, standard deviation, and sample size) for each of the two groups. Include a comparative plot to compare the two groups and discuss what you see in the graph and the comparative statistics. Confidence interval for the difference in means between your two groups: Include the output from the software package you use (choose your own confidence level) and be sure to interpret your result in the context of your data situation Hypothesis test for a difference in means between the two groups: Specify the appropriate null and alternative hypothesis. Use a two-tailed alternative, unless you have some reason in advance to suspect a difference in a particular direction. Include the output from the software package you use and use the p-value to make a conclusion (in context) about the evidence for a difference in means between your groups. Conclusion(s): The conclusion is where you summarize what you have done, why it was important. Language and Format: You should have a "References" section which at least includes the source of the data. The length of the paper should be between 3-6 pages and must have a title page (including the title of the project and the student(s) name)
