The rate law of the liquid-phase non-elementary autocatalytic reaction A B + C is r = kCACB. The feed contains both A and B. Assume a steady-state reaction. CA0= 0.350 mol/L, CB0 = 0.010 mol/L and k = 0.005 L/mol-s. The volumetric flow rate v0 = 0.40 L/s.

a) Calculate the volume of a single CSTR which gives 95% conversion of A

b) At the maximum reaction rate (r) of the autocatalytic reaction, calculate the corresponding (i) conversion of A (XA), (ii) CA0-CA and the reaction rate (rmax). (Hint: write r = kCACB as a function of X by expressing CAand CB in terms of X and differentiate r with respect to X to get optimum X for maximum r)

c) Plot the 1/r versus CA0-CA plot and indicate the y- and x-values corresponding to (i) zero conversion, and (ii) the maximum r as found in part (b) above.
