The reason for the large jump in the United States national debt is due to the fact of several areas that are having trouble being addressed by Congress.Areas such as taxes, medicare, social security, and defense spending such as military budgeting (Schaefer, 2019).The baby boomers advancing into the system is one of the reasons for the Medicare and social security in our national debt to increase over the last decade.The numbers will still be rising throughout the next decade with the two areas in national debt.
