The Red Rock Electric Company has a requirements contract with the Appalachian Coal Company. Under the requirements contract, Red Rock has promised to purchase all of its coal from Appalachian for five years at two percent less than the market price. After the first shipment, a dispute arose between the parties as to what two percent less than the market price meant. Red Rock contends that the market price pertains to what Appalachian is charging others. Appalachian contends that the market price is what all sellers charge. Naturally, Appalachian will be charging Red Rock more under the Appalachian interpretation than under the Red Rock interpretation.
