The relationship between human health and the physical, biological, and social environment raises novel bioethical issues that extend beyond clinical medicine to encompass interactions between human beings and nonhuman species, habitats, ecosystems, the atmosphere, oceans, and the biosphere. These issues may arise at a local, national, or international level and often have implications for public health, global health, social justice, international justice, future generations, economic development, public policy, and human rights.Global Health Ethical Challenges, pp. 269 - 280, 2021 Highgarden is the most fertile of the Seven Kingdoms with lush grasslands and pristine rainforest. However, Highgarden along with six other Kingdoms are facing raising cost in food supplies owed in part to an on going war in Old Valyria -which is not part of the Seven Kingdoms -, a two year pandemic of greyscale infection, and climate change. As a result the Lord of Highgarden decides to convert some of Highgarden's grasslands to agricultural use which is expected to bring significant economic benefits for Highgarden and potentially stabilized food prices across the seven Kingdoms - for the good of all. Nonetheless, clearing land for agriculture can have adverse effect on the surrounding ecological systems; deplete drinkable water supply; agricultural waste, such as animal feces and chemical fertilizers can contaminate the water supply; and people who live near animal farms may be exposed to greater health risks than those living further away. Use suitable ethical theory, covered in this course, to help the Lord of Highgarden resolve this dilemma
